Marissa Mayer is despised and feared by most people at Google, but people want to be invited to her parties, so they're not honest to her face.

She is incredibly smart and talented, but is blinded to distraction by her outrageous ambition and need for constant celebrity. It's amazing that she gets any Google work done for the amount of time she spends cultivating her personal image.

She's a shameless social climber who only gives the time of day to people who can get her somewhere. A person can go from being a nonentity to her best friend in a matter of moments if Marissa finds out that they are highly placed, or can help get her a higher social standing.

Though she's an extremely attractive woman, she has no sense of style, and recommendations from publicists and stylists to update her wardrobe, even for one photo shoot or TV appearance, go completely ignored (or not grasped).

In 2006, she appeared on the cover of Newsweek with Queen Latifah and Maria Menounos. She lobbied hard to get that cover and has frequently angered other female Google executives who are just as high up and have worked just as hard at the company.

The PR team at Google has given up on trying to control her, as they have no power over her and have no energy to fight against the leagues of senior executives like Larry, Sergey and Eric who are equally fearful of her.

Don't be surprised if you see Marissa leave Google some day and become CEO of her own company on the heels of all the publicity she's getting for herself.

Anyone ever seen the way Marissa dresses? She could do a better job blindfolded with one arm tied behind her back - or I could, anyway. The cover of SF magazine a month or so ago told me all I needed to know about her fashion sense: she doesn't have one. Girlfriend needs to get a stylist - and quick. Also, no one appreciates a "social climber" and she's so well-known for that nowadays I don't see how she gets away with it anymore.

If I ran a company with her at the um, 'top', I would be embarrassed: it's not your usual high-level employee who advertises herself as "looking for random play" on Facebook, who decorates her kitchen in golf balls when she can't get a date and who talks so fast no one can understand her...and that's not to mention she's as well-known for her fearsome demeanor with underlings as she is for her steady climb up Social Hill. The least she could do is learn how to dress considering her terrifically flawed behavior.

shes the stereotypical wanna be popular girl who couldn’t land the popular guy she longs for (probably because of those burly Cankles) or the popular stylish girl friends so her seemingly weirdo obsessive compulsive energy was fueled in the computer science world. Now she’s trying to leverage money to obtain a sense of celebrity and style. I wouldn’t doubt she has OCD combined with a hint of ADHD and makes a monthly visit to the shrink. She should quit trying so hard she’s not a star (is Perez Hilton blogging her or is she on Entertainment tonite?) or even an admirable business person; so what she is smart with money and has blonde hair, she likes cupcakes and organizes movie night at Google…..now that’s what I call innovation. She needs to learn a little grace and humility, she’s not a celebrity and never will be.Celebrities are people whom others want to emulate, and I dont think even Helen Keller would try and emulate Marisa Mayer.
