Before my big Yahoo post, some more insider gossip:

Whisper Not earth shattering, but interesting anyway. To quote an email I recently received:

------------------

Ann Mather is one of the grown-ups associated with Google. They put her on the board to help babysit George Reyes.

That's Google's way of doing things. They use their bizarre, navel-gazing, algorithm-driven and inhumane staffing decisions, then when that inevitably fails (because maybe the person used the wrong word or flow chart in front of the founders when they were in a bad mood) they bring in some super-accomplished, way over-qualified subject matter expert who is supposed to clean up the other person's mess, or to keep that project or area in line. But that never happens fast enough for anyone (like, within two weeks). Then all you have is a massive mound of festering, demoralized Googlers waiting to vest.

You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone at Google, mainly below the VP level, who's been there for more than two years and isn't just waiting to vest and figure out their next move.

"Before my big Yahoo post" May God help us - let's hope it relates to Google somehow.

And someone's sending you tips...did he miss the memo about this blog or what?

I'm at this place where I need to sink my teeth into a bit more than a rumor here or a tiny bit of yada yada there - also have you noticed I feel like suing somebody? If anyone's emailing you about suing The Great G could you maybe share with us here?

Yeah, Marah Marie, I hope there's some way I can figure out to relate the Yahoo purchase to Google. I mean there's no connection I can see, other than Google hired silicon valley's biggest con-artist to do anything possible to break up the MSFT/YHOO merger because it would finally bring a competitor to Google, who currently has a near complete monopoly in the online advertising space.

You're right- I should just ignore the whole Yahoo/MSFT saga because clearly it has absolutely nothing to do with Google. Jesus Christ.

For YHOO read 'Lost'. For MSFT read 'CONFUSED'.

For GOOG read 'WINNERS!!!"

Approaching $600 fast...more lobster?

Let's get to the point: the last time you had something to say about Yahoo and Google, you didn't. Your talked only about Yahoo and left it up to us to figure out how it tied into Google - didn't you?

If you had half the adrenaline in your posts that you have in replies like that one the blog would actually be good again - checking for a pulse, sir - hmmm, you definitely have one!

But I do owe you an apology all the same. I could have worded that better - or not wrote it at all (and yeah, I'm sure you'd prefer the latter).

Wow! This site is back for what? The 15th time? Or is it the 20th?

wow, ok, first time on the blog for me and well, quite interesting. I look at all kinds of blogs and well kudos for you for catching my attention on some certainly hot topics....i'll be back (say in Terminator voice cause any other way would just be ignoring the obvious)

oh one more thing. LOVE the graphics...

The graphics are amazing, no? This is *the* blog that inspired me to add (rather shitty) graphics to my own blog after years of drooling at them.

How about updates - another feature of a great blog? I know you're Southern and all admin, but your pace is a bit slow even by their standards - then again, maybe not - in our half-dead little Southern town people are so adverse to speed they refuse to drive on green, then they tear around like maniacs on yellow - and I'm from NY so it drives me crazy - and their driving pattern reminds me of you, admin, to a T...

I donated you $20 in 2006, so I'm glad you're back!

I make a lot of money from Google, I should like the company? No i dont, and here's why - most people who have run a successful business know that to offer employees one day a week to do what they like, feed them, give them benifits galore, does not create loyal staff or a better work enviroment, they either take the mickey and do no work or just look at the toys wondering if anyone would look at them negatively for basically doing no work and playing, being massaged , going for a swim or anything else which basically doesnt add to the company bottom line (why people are employed)

Google is a students idea of work paradise , guess what! that's something that just doesnt exist, its the medias darling and I, like many others just see a company spending its shareholders money like water, they have a lot of staff but what exactly do they do ? Google has to be Silicon Valleys WORST COMPANY for product launches, what can you honestly say has been a huge hit and pulled in revenue ? I cant think of anything & when you look at YOU TUBE it becomes plain, I have already worked out how to make a lot of money out of it, why cant google? I will tell you why, you cannot grow a company at their speed and honestly know what everyone is doing and control them to a set goal, they are out of control and time will show me right. I do respect Sergy & Brin for their achievement with maths but thats it ,they are a one trick pony and the valley should really look at everything else & ask can these people run a corporation, the answer is obvious. NO.

When the chef of the company leaves because he's a multi millionaire from stock options, ask yourself did his cooking really help google make a profit ?

Lastly, if you find the odd spelling mistake or something you don't like , tough i don't care, i have a life & i'm only here because i make money out of sad people like you who think this form of comms is important. eat one google .clever people can see through you .

Yeah, you're right David -this "comms" is not important, so admin should just shitcan the whole thing.

OK admin so what is there to write about Yahoo? If you're looking for a company with an anti-Gooogle stance don't even look their way - every time MS or anyone (now it's Carl Icahn) wants them they reignite their "strike a deal with Google" bullshit - wtf? Why give up search to that behemoth and kill themselves in the process? Every time they yell "strike a deal with Google" it makes them sound like kamikaze pilots, except they're not killing themselves to benefit all - they're just killing themselves. I can kind of understand trying to fake MS and Icahn out with such mutterings - but seriously, why? Why won't they allow themselves to be bought by MS or anyone else? It's gotten unbelievable. Is Yang a head case or what?

Admin, I became infected a long time ago. I can wait too much longer for a new post. It's getting worse. To help fight the virus I've begun to post on Yahoo Finance Tech Ticker. I need a dose. I'm in the middle a 3 week bender and its wearing off. Help!

Trey

Yeah, you're right David -this "comms" is not important, so admin should just shitcan the whole thing.

I spend time to write something that promotes thought & i add the point that the internet is overhyped,
you respond that the 'Admin should shitcan the whole thing'

A, you prove my point exactly about the internet - 99% drivel written by cretins.

B, wtf are you doing here? wasting some of your '20%' time ?

C, Lastly, if you find the odd spelling mistake or something you don't like , tough i don't care, i have a life & i'm only here because i make money out of sad people like you who think this form of comms is important. eat one google .clever people can see through you .

David, your thoughts are none too clearly laid out - you even make up your own words. Outside of being none too fond of Google - it's safe to say that you aren't, right ? - I have no idea what you're on about.

What is a "comms" and why does anyone but you think a "comms" is so "important"?

Admin, are you still alive? Weary of drivel written by cretins like me? Didn't I say you sucked the last time I left a comment? You suck more now than you did a week ago - and you'll suck more in another week than you do right now -- unless (*drum roll*) unless you update.

That big Yahoo post must be so big you need to carry it around in both hands...gee.

Admin!

Looks like your favourite dot commer is up to his tricks again.

http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/05/29/naveen-jains-intelius-prepares-to-go-public-how-much-of-their-revenue-is-a-scam/

BTW when are we getting more dirt on the big G?

No post for a month?

My bet is the site is going down again--for the 20th time.

Oh well, see you all in the fall.

"No post for a month?"

Has it really been a month? My oh my, how time goes by.

"My bet is the site is going down again--for the 20th time."

Has it really been 19 times already? I've missed a heck of a lot of comings and goings, I see.

"Oh well, see you all in the fall."

Yeah. I figure the 16th is an important day in June for admin to conduct site deletions, since it has been in the past, so yeah, so you all again whenever. It's going down.

4 days left and counting down? I don't know why I could never resist picking on you, admin, but I never could. Try to take it with a big, fat, mac-daddy size grain of salt...

On an FG-related note, Henry Blodget/SAI and MacWorld both need to stop writing trash. All of them wrote today that Microsoft "officially" concluded talks with Yahoo and that a search deal with Google is "definitely" underway. How about that?

So I read MacWorld's piece and realized they're being inconsistent about what's going on:

http://www.macworld.com/article/133933/2008/06/yahoo.html

*First* they write:

"Yahoo has *ended* its talks with Microsoft about a deal *narrower in scope* than a full acquisition, Yahoo revealed on Thursday."

They don't link to any source to prove Yahoo said that and SAI only links to the WSJ, which is doing a sub-only version of the article, so I can't read it.

Many paragraphs later MacWorld adds:

"Microsoft *said* this alternative transaction *remains on the table*, and did not *confirm* that talks between it and Yahoo have concluded."

Here's the next inconsistency.

*First* MacWorld writes:

"Instead, the company is *nearing an agreement* with Google involving its search advertising business, The Wall Street Journal reported."

So you click on the link to WSJ and what do you get - you get this junk:

"Perhaps Yahoo’s talks with Google began as posturing to avoid a deal with Microsoft, but now there are *rumors* that discussions between the two are really heating up."

Rumors. Bullshit! I am *livid* that both SAI and MacWorld would report that the search deal with MS is over and that a Google-Yahoo deal is definitely underway when both statements, as far as I can tell, are clearly not true or at least, clearly not confirmed - yet both blogs pass those statements off as actual fact - shamelessly, knowing it will bring more clicks and viewers. I am done with SAI over this and I never read MacWorld, anyway. Both suffer from sensationalisitic reporting, like flipping through both the National Enquirer and The Globe for the tech crowd.

So I guess the upshot is if you read between the lines, there's no official word on anything - about the same news as yesterday's?

Christ. Never mind, forget it...while both blogs I mentioned and no doubt countless others were wrong about whether or not a Microsoft/Yahoo deal could ever happen, apparently everyone, including SAI, was working off a damn good source for the rest of it. Might as well just hand the keys to the world over to Google - it's over.

And Yahoo! was in Google's pocket from the start - I always said so - Yang was never "against" Google at all. I hate to be right if it means watching things go this wrong, but...

Yang is a fool, an absolutely, utterly, self-destructive fool.

Yang is a child (as in you f'in child). The fools where the board members who put him in charge.

Fuck u admin,

You keep shutting down and restarting this site. Fuck off.

At least repost all the old posts starting off with "Giant Hedge Makes GOOG insiders smile."

And stop shutting down the fucking blog. Stop it. Just keep it running when you get bored. BTW Google Adsense can be rather profitable, I think you should add some to this site. If you can't beat them... When in Rome...

Email me back you dirty fuck.

Signed,

You're biggest fan,

Bob

P.S. I even donated big bucks to you when you had paypal, fucker. AND STOP SHUTTIGN DOWN THE FUCKING BLOG U FUCK.

Bob, my sentiments exactly - in fact, I've shared exactly those thoughts with admin a few times which is probably why he never was and never will be my, ummm...'biggest fan' - he doesn't seem to like the fact that anyone likes the blog. Exasperating creature, isn't he? The kind you'd like to turn upside down and shake until common sense flows back into his head - granted that might take more shaking than I have the strength or energy to indulge in - but common sense says if you have a great blog you don't take it down. But I don't care anymore - I believe admin should stay the free spirit that he is and not try to fake an enthusiasm that he doesn't feel - even if we do. So these days he could kill it a dozen times a year as long as he'd restore it each time he brings it back. I do miss the old stuff and the continuity. But that's just admin. I think if he had help restoring it he'd do that, but he doesn't have help, so he doesn't. And archive.org isn't making copies of FG anymore, last I checked. And I've never downloaded admin's site locally and I'll be damned if I'll do it now. So a lot of history is just * poof* gone...and it happens every single time.

What a fucking loser.

ive just been informed that admin is back and posts will resume tomorrow.

Admin,
Here's some meat you can feed on... if you're still there:

http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/06/24/is-google-ad-planner-getting-its-data-from-the-google-toolbar

Let's face it. Google is teh awesome. It has simply become impossible to deny this obvious fact, that is why admin has gone into hiding.

You might want to think about getting an adsense account so you can make some money and hire someone to redesign this piece of shit site.

Oh wait. Nevermind.

http://www.diorex.com/168-billion-reasons-to-stop-using-google-analytics/

Looks like the admin has abandoned this place for the 100th time.

So much good anti-Google stuff going on right now, and admin is... where??

So typical. But yet, here I am checking the site every week or so...

At least don't let your own IP address show up in admin's records when you check it every week or so - he'll just sit back and laugh at you. He does - he thinks you're fools.

"At least don't let your own IP address show up in admin's records when you check it every week or so - he'll just sit back and laugh at you."

Ah, the irony...admin laughing at me and my IP again.

I would've thought you'd have deleted FG by now - you usually can't go more than a month without updates without making it dissapear...

Don't tell me it's another abandoned website with an MIA owner like -

Isn't that worse than deleting it? Isn't this more like the newsletter-version of FG than the real deal? It's not like the archives are here and what have you got so far..some rumor posts? Big deal. And if Microsoft finally buys Y! so what? One more post then yawn again. Obviously you have nothing to share beyond that.

Don't tell me I took it all out of you when I criticized you for your focus on Yahoo! - gee, admin, you're breaking my heart...

Hi guys,

Sorry for the long dead period. I was feeling a bit blue and not in the mood to for any wordsmithing.

I'm thinking of posting something next month...or the month after.

Stay tuned.

Admin.

But are you admin?

Ah I see -- anyone can post as admin again- let the party begin!

Hey sport racers,

I'm too busy watching reruns of zeFrank and scratching my balls to update but I should have something that I won't feel like posting soon. You retards should be grateful I don't just delete the blog although there's really jack on it to read. GOOG stock has been dropping like a brick every day lately and no one really knows why, they're in court over anti-trust issues and everyone and their mother is starting to hate and fear them but I really don't care. Go start your own blog if you can't wait for me to get over my inertia<---"and we all know how long that lasts" - don't we?

Admin, you're a fool.

Confession time, gang.

The reason this blog keeps going down is because for the past 5 years I have been struggling with an addiction. Back in 2003 my step-dad got me hooked on illegal cat sedatives which make me sleep for about 20 hours a day. During my awake hours I'm too drowsy to do anything but watch day time soaps and Lifetime chick flicks.

Now you know.

Admin
